Round 3 for Computers In Homes Far North

The newly established 2020 Far North ICT Trust has it's first major job since its conception a year ago.The Trust members are thrilled to learn, the Computers In Homes community ICT programme is going North again. The Kaitaia based CIH group met recently to congratulate each other for all the hours of work, and progress needed to get applications and other important information through to Department of Internal Affairs before closing dates. Trust members are very excited, as this proves there is a common need to address the Digital Literacy in the Far North, and the Computers In Homes programme is just what it needs, to help close the Digital Divide across New Zealand. With the announcement in July from Ministers Tariana Turia and Steven Joyce regarding the nations state of Digital Literacy, the Governments Community Partnership Fund has gained funding again to help address the digital divide that exists throughout New Zealand, more so in the rural low income areas. Regional coordinators across the country are buzzing with excitement as they and their steering committees, prepare, and plan their next biggest thrill on their calendars, and ready themselves to take this most worthwhile educational tool - CIH programme, to the people again. Coordinators and School communities from the Far North to the Deep South will be gearing up for their next intake of eligible whanau to learn and to upskill their ICT skills, through the Computers In Homes programme, so learning alongside their children and grandchildren is not a chore but an evergrowing committment they will be proud to share..because ICT a better
