Thierry Jutel

Thierry Jutel - New Technologies and Contemporary Cinema:

In this presentation I will discuss current trends in the conception, production, circulation and reception of films. The discussion will be framed by considerations of film culture and history, and fiction and documentary story-telling.

Dr Thierry Jutel is Programme Director of Media Studies, Victoria University. He is one of the editors of a forthcoming collections of essays on The Lord of the Rings as a film event (September 2008, Manchester University Press). He is currently writing a book on contemporary cinema to come out in 2009. He is also the producer of several short experimental films.

 

Emily Loughnan

Emily Loughnan - Click Suite:

Emily Loughnan is a director and co-founder of the international award-winning interactive media company Click Suite.

Emily has a particular focus on communicating with audiences, her key skills are in strategic and creative direction on interactive projects.

Prior to forming Click Suite, Emily came from a television production background spanning fifteen years including five years at NZ On Air where she was involved in commissioning television programmes for a variety of New Zealand audiences, including "Shortland Street”, and negotiating international contracts.

Click Suite has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1993. Click Suite has a well deserved reputation for quality and innovation, and prides itself on making interactive media that audiences love. They typically dominate local awards, have attracted various business accolades, and have significant international traction winning top American and European awards.

Emily has recently served a two-year term on the Prime Minister’s Growth and Innovation Advisory Board, as well as past roles as a Trustee of Positively Wellington Business and on the Board of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

Don Hollander - 2020 Communications Trust:

Don Hollander is the Chair of the 2020 Communications Trust and has been involved in New Media, one way or another, for more than a dozen years.  Don sees innovations in ICT, particularly at the devices at the ends of the Internet, as potentially societally altering – and is looking forward to the discussion on the Social, Cultural & Ethical Implications of ICT innovations in Entertainment.
